Yep, what do you know?! My town had this little free skateboarding festival going on on 4th July. Yes, that little Hitchin Town we are talking about. Skate Jam was the town buzz word of the day.
Ethan was into skateboarding when his London friend started watching and copying all the cool Tony Hawk skateboarders doing the 360º trick flips and what not on the half pipes. Then Ethan being Ethan, wanted to join in even though he was totally not in touch with his masculine side. He would just cry his eye balls out with just a little scratch from a little fall. But for some reasons, he thought that falling off skateboards was seen as an hilarious act. He would laugh with his friend endlessly by falling off on purpose! Oh dear… this is not good. Then Skate Jam arrived to Hitchin! Hooray! We, of course went to check them out.
Since then, he wanted to dig out his skateboard (received from Father Christmas) out from the boiler cupboard and to give it another go. We later learnt that Hitchin also has a skateboarding park, the “King George Playing Field”, but it was on the other side of town. So it is a bit of a trek to get there, but hopefully this will not deter his determination to have another attempt. We went to check this out last week today. It is situated on the North side of Hitchin Town. It is huge as it provides many facilities there. There are the Hitchin Rugby Football Club Pavilion, with rugby and football pitches, tennis courts, children’s playground with a mega 3 meters high slide, and a skateboarding park of course. Ethan then puts his gear on and was waiting for instructions on how to master the act of balancing. While he was practicing, all the other big kids were watching his progress. At one point, Ethan managed to stayed on for about a minute and they all gave him cheers and claps! So it is going okay I guess. Then I turned around and discovered that Evelyn was eating grass.
Did you or your kids go through a ‘Skateboarding’ phase?

My son loves skateboarding! He has got one too and is using it sometimes. I showed him this and he is riding his skateboard again. Events like this is really inspiring for other kids to try the sport! #pointshoot

Really! So glad that he got inspired. I wish that there is a closer skateboarding park near us though, so we can just pop out for an afternoon of skateboarding during the Summer months. p.s. just saw your son on your page. He is very cute. xx

It was part of Hitchin Festival. There are other events that ran throughout July, mostly music gigs related. Thank you for your comment of the photo. 🙂 x
